Clinical Oncology Conferences

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. Cancer continuity has improved due to three main components including improved prevention efforts to diminish exposure to risk factors, improved screening of several cancers, and improvements in treatment.

Radio immunotherapy is treating of diseases in this antibody labeled with nuclide is used to deliver radiation in the tumor cells. In cancer therapy, an antibody with specificity for a tumor-associated antigen is used to passes a lethal dose of radiation to the tumor cells. The possibility for the antibody to significantly bind to a tumor-associated antigen increases the dose delivered to the tumor cells while decreasing the dose to normal tissues. By its nature, RIT need a tumor cell to express an antigen that is same to the neoplasm or is not available in normal cells. Other types of cancer for which RIT has therapeutic potential including prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, metastatic melanoma, neoplastic meningitis, metastatic colorectal cancer leukemia, high-grade brain glioma.

Market Report:

In 2002 and 2003, the US FDA approved Yttrium (Y90) Ibritumomab tiuxetan and Iodine (131I) tositumomab for treatment of relapsed and refractory follicular lymphoma. Those radioimmunotherapy agents attained good response compared to immunotherapy and chemotherapy.  Iodine (131I) tositumomab was offered to the patients until its production was discontinued on February 2014, due to decline in demand. Yttrium (Y90) Ibritumomab tiuxetan , sought to describe our experience as a community-based cancer center with the response rate, overall survival, progression free survival and toxicity of RIT and HSCT as treatment procedure for B-cell NHL over 10 years.
